On Friday 22/3/13 the EUCOSSA team held an event dubbed Guru’s Corner,held on the EUCOSSA Hub as from 6pm-10pm.The turn out was high,so was the expectation.We also hosted some other students from other courses who are interested in tech.The whole idea was to pitch tech ideas and to even showcase the projects we are working on-this gives the developer some nerdy advice and shared code.
The meeting started with prayers from @Petergykes,an active member of @eucossa, the mc of the day was the project manager @dickensos who then introduced the officials and welcomed the members…
We began with talks,revolving around the tech world.By the virtual of our campus,we are in the midst of a society which requires a philanthropic hand from techies,so then @stevemuiruri discussed of how we could implement an open source project to help the less fortunate to minimize the digital divide.@labanish then took over explaining the 8 leadership principles a techprenuer should have to attain excellence.@dmabiria highlighted on the issue of #how to Learn creativity.@moffatmn,our University GSA vetted on issue of applying for the Google Student Ambasador Program,which is still on.

We got into the business of the day-Coding .Members present were grouped having cognizant of the middle leveled,perfect or dummy programmers.Apparently everyone was ready to touch some code,so @stevemuiruri had an easier time to train the members.We were to create an online registration form composing of;
- User friendly interface-(HTML5)
- MySQL database
- Server side(PHP)
Programming was fun and gamelike,with members asking as many queries as their db could hold.@stevemuiruri also gave some few incentives on the success of the first project,free hosting on his website http://www.bizbrum.com among others.
My group also did something,we created the below form,connected to MySQL database,inserted and retrieved data.
The total members who turned up for the event were around 30 in which around 4 were non-computer science students.After the long coding and practicing section,the meeting was adjourned by a word of prayer from Flevian,our first year upcoming #codedivah.
In conclusion this reminds me of a famous quote from Zig Ziglar,
“You can have anything you WANT in life if you will help enough other people get what they WANT!”
We share,help and teach others how to code…That’s EUCOSSA.If you missed this version of @guruscorner…am sorry,come next week!
>>>i will be taking comrades who yearn to touch #android,step by step.
Kind Regards.
Love the recarp… Keep it up. We need more reports like this.
